So this week has shown me a little bit more of this place that I call home. I went to meet Ronnie at the warehouse for lunch and on the way there I saw this huge pillar of smoke going up in the air from the road in front of me. I had to slow down of course to see what was going on and there were firemen sitting on their truck watching this HUGE pile of wood burn. I have never been to a town that loves to burn stuff like Paris does. I actually saw in the news that there is a burn ban right now due to the hot and dry weather which would explain the firemen being there for this pile.
Anyways, we got to the highway that leads to the warehouse and up ahead I see a truck stop in the middle of the road on the other side of the two lane highway, the guy gets out of his truck and stands in the middle of my lane. I couldn't believe that I was watching this guy stand in the middle of the busy highway! Turns out when I got closer and had to pull over to the shoulder that it was the sheriff and he was stopping traffic for a funeral procession that was up ahead. If you interrupt a procession here it will give you a big fat ticket! By the time we got to Ronnie's work it took us almost an hour which is normally a 20 minute drive.
We decided to go to a Mexican restaurant we had yet to try and as we sit down Kate gets sick all over the table and a little on Ronnie. Did I have a change of clothes with me for her? Of course not! So into the bathroom we went and I washed her down as best as I could until we we could get back home but poor Ronnie had to work in his shorts the rest of the day!
